On September 18, the recruitment launch ceremony of the 3rd China Greentech IP Management Clinic (IPMC) was held at the 2026 Conference on Financing Green Technology. Representatives from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Beijing Municipal Intellectual Property Office (BJIPO), the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, the Bluetech Clean Air Alliance (BCAA), the Zhongguancun Science Park (Tongzhou Park) Administrative Commission, Tencent Group, GCL Group, China Energy News, and mentors jointly took the stage to participate in the launch ceremony and have a group photo taken.

The 3rd China Greentech IP Management Clinic (IPMC) is hosted by WIPO and implemented by BCAA on commission, with joint support from BJIPO, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, the Zhongguancun Science Park (Tongzhou Park) Administrative Commission, and other institutions. As an upgraded component of BCAA’s green technology innovation support chain, it targets green technology enterprises that have been selected through the Bluetech Carbon Neutrality Pioneers Award and have undergone acceleration incubation, and that plan to expand in domestic and international markets.

Driven by the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, China’s green technology innovation has entered an unprecedented development peak. According to statistics from the China National Intellectual Property Administration, from 2016 to 2024, the cumulative number of published global green and low-carbon patent applications exceeded 1.5 million, of which China’s cumulative published green and low-carbon patent applications exceeded 680,000 (45.4%). Tonny XIE, Director of BCAA, noted that China’s green innovation has become a leading global force, and many technology enterprises have an urgent need to explore global development. However, a key prerequisite for going global is to build a solid international IP strategy, using intellectual property (IP) assets as the core to form differentiated competitive advantages. It is against this backdrop that the China Greentech IP Management Clinic (IPMC) was launched.
The first two cohorts of the China Greentech IP Management Clinic (IPMC) served a total of 50 green technology enterprises, helped participating enterprises add more than 560 patents, and more than 40% of the enterprises had already initiated overseas patent layouts. Through specialized training, benchmarking study visits to leading enterprises, and one-on-one customized IP coaching, the program helps enterprises create tailor-made global IP strategy roadmaps, focuses on addressing common corporate pain points such as overseas patent layout and overseas compliance risks, and builds a green technology innovation community.

Peter OKSEN, WIPO, Lead of the WIPO GREEN Global Acceleration Projects, said that in 2024, three WIPO departments—the IP for Business Division (IPBD), WIPO GREEN, and the WIPO China Office—joined forces, cooperating with the Beijing Municipal Intellectual Property Office and BCAA, to introduce the IP strategy accelerator module for the first time in the UN WIPO GREEN Beijing Acceleration Project. The response was very positive. Now in its third edition, he hopes the project will continue to empower Chinese green technology enterprises in the future, support them in using IP tools to accelerate their global development, and support the realization of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The 2026 Conference on Financing Green Technology is a parallel event of the Beijing Green Development Forum 2026. It is organized by IFS and BCAA, and co-organized by HUA XIA BANK CO., LTD. The event attracted more than 200 entrepreneurs, investors, experts, and other participants from the green technology sector on site, while more than 86,000 people participated online.
