[Registration] China Greentech IP Management Clinic (IPMC)

The 3rd Cohort Recruitment Launched

July 1, 2026 – The recruitment for the 3rd China Greentech IP Management Clinic (IPMC) officially launched today. The project is non-profit for Chinese green technology enterprises, hosted by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), supported by the Beijing Municipal Intellectual Property Office and the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, and executed by the Bluetech Clean Air Alliance (BCAA). The project aims to help green technology enterprises effectively and strategically utilize intellectual property (IP) to support their entrepreneurial activities and contribute to global sustainable development through the accelerated growth of green enterprises. This project is also a key component of the WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Project pilot in Beijing.

Driven by the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, China's green technology innovation has experienced an unprecedented surge. According to statistics from the China National Intellectual Property Administration, from 2016 to 2024, the cumulative number of published global green and low-carbon patent applications exceeded 1.5 million, of which China accounted for over 680,000 (45.4%). China's green innovation has become a global leading force, and many technology enterprises have an urgent need to explore global development. However, a critical prerequisite for global expansion is building a robust international IP strategy, forming differentiated competitive advantages with IP assets at the core. The China Greentech IP Management Clinic was initiated under this background.

This cohort of the project has received strategic support from BOE, CATL, GCL, Xiaomi, Tencent, and other organizations. Special acknowledgments go to the Center for Environmental Education and Communications of Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Green Technology Exchange, China Intellectual Property News, China Energy News, Institute of Finance and Sustainability (IFS), China Environment Chamber of Commerce, Meituan Green Tech Fund, CNOOC Fund, HSBC China, Aramco Ventures, HongShan, CASSTAR, K2VC, and Innoangel Fund.

Review of the Past Two Cohorts’ Achievements

From 2024 to 2026, the China Greentech IP Management Clinic (IPMC) has been successfully held for two consecutive cohorts. The project invited 19 outstanding IP experts from domestic and abroad as mentors and organized activities including intensive training, on-site study of model enterprises, and one-on-one mentoring, providing systematic IP empowerment and support to 50 participating enterprises. The 25 enterprises in the first cohort made significant progress after joining: over 500 new patent applications were filed; over 40% initiated PCT applications or overseas patent filings targeting countries and regions such as the US, Japan, and Europe; 80% strengthened their trade secret protection management mechanisms, over 90% proactively upgraded their internal IP management systems, and approximately 70% initiated new trademark applications including Madrid international registrations; simultaneously, over 60% had integrated international IP strategy into the core of their business strategy, laying a solid IP foundation for future overseas business expansion. The interim results of the second cohort are equally impressive: a 100% satisfaction rate; international patent portfolio development is progressing in an orderly manner, with nearly half of the enterprises having initiated or planning to apply for international patents; and IP management system enhancements have achieved full coverage across all 25 enterprises.
