The Chuanglan Carbon Neutrality Energy Storage Technology Application Accelerator Camp (2025) was successfully held

On December 9, the Chuanglan Carbon Neutrality Energy Storage Technology Application Accelerator Camp (2025), hosted by the Chuanglan Alliance and strategically supported by HSBC China, was successfully held in Beijing. Representatives from 17 innovative energy storage technology enterprises gathered to join the camp, and participated in intensive training on energy storage technologies and high-end industry dialogues. Six camp-entry enterprises conducted key demonstrations and engaged in on-site exchanges with industrial demand-side entities and investment institutions. Additionally, three sets of strategic cooperation agreements on energy storage technology application were signed at the event. More than 150 guests attended, including representatives from over 30 energy storage technology demand-side companies, more than 40 investment representatives focusing on energy storage technologies, as well as industry experts, research institute delegates, and media representatives.
This event also received strong support from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Green Technology Platform, Beijing Intellectual Property Office, Beijing Institute of Green Finance and Sustainable Development, Management Committee of Zhongguancun Science Park Dongcheng Park, Aramco Strategic Investments, and Zhongguancun International. Meanwhile, it served as one of the acceleration activities under the Beijing pilot program of the United Nations WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Project.
Guest Speeches
Lv Guoliang
In his opening speech, Lv Guoliang, former Deputy Director of the WIPO China Office and former Director-General of the International Cooperation Department of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), pointed out that WIPO launched the WIPO GREEN cooperation platform in 2013. It is dedicated to building a communication bridge between global green technology suppliers and demanders, promoting green technology innovation and dissemination, thereby addressing climate change and supporting the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
In 2020, Director Xie Hongxing of the Chuanglan Alliance was invited to become a core member of the WIPO GREEN Global Committee. Among the 9 committee members, Director Xie is the only one from China, who has made unremitting efforts to advance China's participation in WIPO-related affairs. One of the significant achievements is the introduction of the WIPO GREEN Global Acceleration Project into China, with Beijing being established as the first pilot city in November 2021. Today’s event is also part of the acceleration activities under the Beijing pilot program of the UN WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Project. After four years of operation, the Beijing pilot program has yielded fruitful results.
The "15th Five-Year Plan" released this year prioritizes high-quality development for China’s future. The high-quality development of the energy storage industry is inseparable from the strategic deployment and internationalization of intellectual property rights. It is suggested that energy storage enterprises should focus on and make good use of WIPO’s global intellectual property service systems in the future, such as the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) system, the Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks, and the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs. It is believed that the Beijing acceleration pilot program will continue to deepen in the future, achieving more outcomes and exerting greater influence.
Wang Ying
In her speech, Wang Ying, Head of Sustainability at HSBC Bank (China) Company Limited, stated that this year marks the 160th anniversary of HSBC’s establishment, and addressing climate change is the top priority of HSBC’s sustainability efforts. Recently, HSBC China officially launched "HSBC Tech & Innovation Banking", the first financial service brand among foreign-funded banks dedicated to serving technology and innovation enterprises, with a total credit facility of USD 1.5 billion. By strengthening technology and innovation finance, HSBC is fully committed to supporting mainland tech and innovation enterprises in leading the development of China’s innovative economy.
HSBC has continuously funded public welfare initiatives addressing climate change. Under the HSBC Climate Solutions Partnership, a flagship global public welfare program launched in 2021, HSBC has donated over RMB 100 million in China over the past five years, actively promoting and exploring innovative climate solutions and accelerating the development of emerging climate technologies.
In recent years, China’s energy storage industry has experienced rapid large-scale development, but still faces numerous challenges. The "Energy Storage Technology Application Accelerator Camp and the Project for Enhancing Carbon Emission Reduction Capabilities Along the Energy Storage Industry Value Chain", a collaboration between HSBC and the Chuanglan Alliance, addresses these challenges. It aims to accelerate the application of innovative energy storage technologies and products, and enhance the carbon emission reduction capabilities of energy storage technology enterprises along the value chain by organizing the Energy Storage Technology Application Accelerator Camp and developing and applying guidelines and tools for carbon footprint accounting of energy storage products. This will further promote the large-scale application of energy storage technologies, help increase the proportion of new energy in the energy structure at a faster pace, and accelerate the response to climate change.
Building on its successful debut in 2024, the Accelerator Camp has been further upgraded this year. It is also hoped that through the platform we have built, we can facilitate exchanges, promote the development and capacity building of participating enterprises, enable collaboration among user enterprises, foster cooperation intentions, and provide acceleration services for energy storage enterprises.
The person in charge of the Management Committee of Zhongguancun Science Park Dongcheng Park stated that as the core area of the capital’s functions, Dongcheng District has always focused on and actively integrated into the wave of green and advanced energy transformation. Dongcheng District is an important cluster of headquarters of central energy enterprises, boasting abundant resource endowments. It is home to more than 100 subsidiaries of eight major central energy enterprises including China Energy Investment Corporation, China National Petroleum Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, and China Energy Engineering Corporation, as well as 90 key green and advanced energy enterprises (including private enterprises). Together, they have formed an industrial development echelon featuring "leading central enterprises and coordinated multi-stakeholders".
Dongcheng District has clear industrial orientation, dense resources of state-owned and central enterprises, an increasingly rich green energy ecosystem, and a strong aspiration for open cooperation. Taking this opportunity, we hope to further connect industrial resources, promote pragmatic cooperation, expand Dongcheng District’s "circle of friends" in the green and advanced energy industry, keep pace with the pulse of industrial transformation, and jointly write a new chapter of cooperative development. We look forward to conducting in-depth and pragmatic cooperation with all of you, and joining hands to contribute "Dongcheng’s strength" to building Beijing’s trillion-level green energy industrial cluster.

IP Empowerment – Building New Quality Productive Forces in the Energy Storage Industry
Xie Hongxing
The Accelerator Camp also included an IP strategy training session for participating enterprises, industrial partners, and investors. As a national strategic resource and a core element of competitiveness, intellectual property serves as a catalyst for cultivating new quality productive forces.
Xie Hongxing, Director of the Chuanglan Alliance and National Coordinator of the UN WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Project, delivered a lecture titled "IP Empowerment – Building New Quality Productive Forces in the Energy Storage Industry". He emphasized that China has emerged as the world’s most dynamic innovator in green technology fields such as energy storage and hydrogen energy. In 2023, the CNIPA examined nearly 35,000 patents related to energy storage, exceeding the combined total of the United States, the European Union, Japan, and South Korea.
China is undergoing a role transformation from a technology follower to an innovation leader. To break away from inward-looking development, energy storage enterprises need to learn to utilize intellectual property tools, build a core of competitiveness, and establish differentiated brand advantages. This will enable enterprises to gain industrial dominance and pricing power, resist risks, and continuously obtain excess profits. This is also the key path to fostering new quality productive forces in the energy storage industry and achieving high-quality development.
